My Grandfather’s Recently Discovered Okinawa Photographs

I have a grandmother who is very ill. Some family members were recently going through her stuff and trying to get it all organized and they found a very old, thick envelope containing about 80 images my grandfather had taken during WWII. They all appear to be from Okinawa and feature many scenes of Sea Bees shoving off, aftermath scenes, village scenes, and even a few shots of the Japanese commanders signing the surrender papers.

Check out the entire set here. As the son of a Sea Bee and the grandson of a Sea Bee I am proud that these simple, honest pictures survived.

Site Update, New Video Section, and more

Everybody has a blog or a website these days, and rarely is the content fresh, original, or interesting to anyone. It’s usually a rehash of information from other sites or, awkwardly, a repository for their day-to-day personal ruminations. As for me, I had been using this site’s back end as a place to store songs and other media so I can check them out from any computer with an internet connection. But last night I decided to totally revamp the Tunes page, add a Video page, and basically turn this place into a venue for my “original” works. You will also find a zillion old hardcore, punk, and metal fliers from the 90s if you dig hard enough. So, moving forward, I will try to keep adding original content like music and videos, but look out for the occasional news tidbit as well.
